Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) scheme was launched by the Government of India in August, 2004 for setting up residential schools at upper primary level for girls belonging predominantly to the SC, ST, OBC and minorities in difficult areas. The scheme of the KGBV ran as a separate scheme but in harmony with the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), National Programme for Education of Girls at Elementary Level (NPEGEL) and Mahila Samakhya (MS) for the first two years, but has since 1st April, 2007 merged with the SSA programme as a separate component of that programme. My pleasure knows no bounds to welcome all young, enthusiastic minds and their parents/guardians as well, to Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) Tanakpur, Champawat and feel obliged to them for the faith they have shown in its academic and administrative management.
KGBV Tanakpur was set up in 2005-06. It Provides Quality Education for girls from under privileged families. The school was set up on a land of acres provided by Goverment. KGBV, Tanakpur has about 150 girls students which live in the Hostle.
